Bringing jobs to Stockbridge and Henry County started with 500 people showing up in 2016 to the very first Goodwill/Stockbridge job fair/career expo. This year we are introducing a first of its kind Drive Thru Covid safety job fair! It was my top priority to increase job opportunities and training after taking office in 2016 and we got it done collectively. We keep it going because it is needed now more than ever with unemployment so high due to Covid.
This event started with my visit to a local Goodwill Training Center job fair in 2015 before I was elected to office. I saw an old friends Brenda Marshall of Goodwill and asked what would it take to set up a job fair with the city of Stockbridge once I was sworn in. Unemployment was 8% in Stockbridge at the time and I ran for office promising more jobs for our city with the slogan Jobs… Jobs…Jobs. Once elected I reached out to Brenda and Goodwill to setup the job fair partnership with the city quarterly. For the first job fair 500 people showed up, Goodwill’s biggest turnout ever at the time. Stockbridge was Goodwill’s partner of the year for 2017. The job fair went to twice a year with unemployment down but today it is needed more than ever in a Covid safe mode for job seekers and employers alike.

The new North American headquarters for Hegla Corp is complete at 1285 Rum Creek Pkwy Stockbridge! A special thank to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Henry County Development Authority , Stockbridge Economic Development, and the Stockbridge Mayor & Council.
Hegla Corporation will initially provide 50 Advanced Manufacturing jobs starting at $60,000 a year plus benefits! Hegla produces the machines that make glass windows for skyscrapers all over they world! They are based in Germany!
